Hot weather warning!

Well, summertime is in full swing and so is the hot weather. All trikers that transport their trikes inside a car should heed this warning. We have all heard the reports of terrible cases about children and pets inside a hot car, but have you considered your trikes? Many people transport their trikes in SUV’s and vans…

According to nhtsa.gov,

“A car’s windows act like a greenhouse, trapping sunlight and heat… Cars parked in direct sunlight can reach internal temperatures up to 131° F – 172° F … when outside temperatures are 80° F – 100° F. Even outside temperatures in the 60s can cause a car temperature to rise well above 110° F. When the outside temperature is 83° F, even with the window rolled down 2 inches, the temperature inside the car can reach 109° F in only 15 minutes.”

With those high temperatures come tire blowouts. Keep your trike in reasonable temperatures! If you must leave it in a vehicle, make sure to lower the pressures in your tires…
